As a non-practitioner of Daoism, it strikes me that this book is exactly what Daoism is not supposed to be. Much of this book dives more into the metaphysical aspects of the philosophical religious tradition, which might be interesting, but the Daodejing and other texts suggest to me that the emphasis should be on simplicity and actively avoiding reading so much into things. While parts of the book were valuable, and Wong does a decent job of explaining various Daoist tenants, this book just didn’t do it for me.
