On Philosophy in the Islamic World
Adamson, Peter. Philosophy in the Islamic World. Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2016. pp. 280. Cloth.
A much harder read than earlier volumes. Perhaps it’s because the characters and ideas are less familiar than the classical period, or it could be because this is Adamson’s specialization, so he assumes readers have a certain baseline level of knowledge that isn’t really there. At least, that’s the case for me. Still, it’s a very welcome contribution, and the Andalusian portion of the book simply fascinated me.
