On the Sentence
Erdrich, Louise. The Sentence. New York: Harper, 2021. pp. 416. Cloth.
I went into this book knowing nothing about it and I think it is a testament to Louise Erdrich’s ability as a writer that the main character is quite unlikable, but we (or I) still root for her. This is an interesting ghost story, and the influence of grave robbing and the more positive legacy of NAGPRA are both apparent here. I don’t have a whole ton to say, but this book also makes a decent primer to the events of 2020 in the United States for anyone—now or in the future—who is unfamiliar with them.
