On Flatline Constructs

Woof, a rough read. I can’t be too hard on Fisher, though — it was his unpublished dissertation, and he strikes me as exactly the sort of person who’d have seen a traditional dissertation as an absurd hoop to jump through to “prove” you know enough about something. Gothic materialism, cybernetic capitalism, theory-fiction, undeath, flatlining, hyperstition, hyperreality — it’s all here. It’s most interesting as a glimpse of the foundation he’d later build into k-punk and the books that followed.
