On Postcapitalist Desire

Fisher, Mark. Postcapitalist Desire: The Final Lectures. London: Repeater Books, 2020. pp. 264. eBook. $19.95.

This is Fisher at his most accelerationist, and there’s something haunting in reading it, since the book collects his last five lectures before he died by suicide in 2017. There’s so much hope here about what postcapitalism could be, and it doubles as a fine primer on critical theory — not as a reified body of old texts but as something subversive we can still draw on today. I wish Mark were still here.
