On a Companion to Assyria

Frahm, Eckart, ed. A Companion to Assyria. Hoboken: Wiley-Blackwell, 2017. pp. 635. eBook. $211.95.

This collection of essays was far less compelling than A Companion to the Ancient Near East. In theory it’s a deep dive into one of the most interesting societies from that earlier book; in practice it feels lifeless, a little wooden. A few chapters held my interest, but not enough to make the book worth reading.
