More or less a country profile of Tunisia. Those who are familiar with Tunisian history and politics will already be familiar with what’s written here, but it’s a decent reference for forgotten information. The first two-thirds of the book is Tunisian history up to independence in 1956. The last third is a thematic look at Tunisian society, economy, politics, and foreign affairs between 1956 and 1986 (the year the book was published).
