On the Inside Scoop on Eating Disorder Recovery

Rollin, Jennifer and Colleen Reichmann. The Inside Scoop on Eating Disorder Recovery: Advice from Two Therapists Who Have Been There. London: Taylor & Francis, 2021. Paperback.

This is an interesting, actionable book by two therapists. I get the sense that the book is gendered female, although there are nods to male experiences with eating disorders. Moreover, although there is some discussion of problems with binge eating and food addiction, the focus of the book is more on those who are too restrictive with their diets. Part of this may be because restriction followed by loss of control is fundamental to eating disorders, but I couldn’t help but feel that I am not necessarily the audience of this book. Lastly, it came off—at times—as a bit too informal for my liking. This isn’t a major issue, as it’s the choice of the authors and I’m sure that this works for other people, but it didn’t really fit particularly well for my own needs.

Nevertheless, this is worth reading for those struggling with eating disorders.
