On Fascism and Political Theory
Woodley, Daniel. Fascism and Political Theory: Critical Perspectives on Fascist Ideology. Milton Park: Routledge, 2009. pp. 276. Paperback.
Takes a perspective somewhere between that of modernization theory and Marxist theory. Attacks the New Consensus by linking it to Weberian ideal types, which Woodley argues do not exist. New Consensus theorists know that ideal types don’t exist, but they recognize that it is useful to imagine what an ideal, “generic” fascism would look like. Ultimately, I found this work unconvincing.
