Interestingly enough, my first experience with Muse was playing “Knights of Cydonia” on Guitar Hero 3. I never really pursued their music further until the film Twilight used “Supermassive Black Hole” in the baseball sequence. I thought it was well done, and I came to love the song.
As cliché as it is, my favorite song on Black Holes and Revelations is “Starlight” (the lyrics of which give the album its title), although “Map of the Problematique” is also excellent.
Listening to the album today, it belongs in the same category as the Killers, although I think that Muse is the better of the two bands. The music here certainly comes from a specific historical moment, and I’m not sure the same music would be popular today. Even so, I really love it.
