Alive 2007 is one of those legendary concerts that people talk about for ages. The mixes on here are incredible, and you can hear the excitement in the stadium. At the time the album was recorded (in Paris’s Bercy Arena), I had just turned twelve, so there was little chance of me ever having the opportunity to hear it.
It was especially legendary because Daft Punk had not previously toured since 1997. I had actually hoped that they would follow-up this tour with an Alive 2017, but it never happened.
For a full sense of why this album is so great, I’d urge you to take a listen yourself; even better if you pull up video footage of the concert, although I can’t imagine that it could compare to the sensory overload on display in Paris on the night this was recorded.
It’s a must-listen, and it–perhaps more than Discovery, it turned Daft Punk into a force.
