Album cover for One Time for All Time

65daysofstatic’s One Time for All Time is post-rock at its best. The other day, I wrote a little bit about God Is an Astronaut’s All is Violent, All is Bright. While that is a good, solid album, 65daysofstatic goes hard here.

“Radio Protector” is the best-known song: Spotify shows that it has some 8,850,000 listens. But, other songs on here are even better. For instance, my favorite is “65 Doesn’t Understand You.” It’s a static-laced, distorted song, and the melodies are made up of some sort of futuristic instrumentation that I can’t even quite identify.

It may just be that “Radio Protector” is the sort of classic song we are most likely to listen to in the background. It begins with a quiet piano melody, harmonizing with a calm beat. However, the song progresses into a rock sound with a powerful drumkit that seems to pursue a natural development (for those of us who have a taste for conventional sounds).

The rest of the album is different, it’s outstanding, energizing, a bit dark, but interlaced with a hopefulness and raw dynamism that makes me want to live my life to its fullest.

All that is to say, this record is going to be on-repeat for a while.
